NYEKACHI DOUGLAS BECOMES MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN NIGERIA 2019

Miss Nyekachi Douglas, representing Rivers state has won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) 2019 crown.

The contest which took place at the Gabriel Okara Cultural Centre in Bayelsa State on Friday.


Miss Nyekachi defeated 36 other contestants to become the most beautiful girl in Nigeria.


Douglas is to get a brand new car and other mouthwatering prizes as the winner.

She will also represent Nigeria at the Miss World 2019 pageantry, which will be held on December 14, at the ExCeL London in London.

This year’s being the 32nd edition, was themed as “Every Woman.”

MATINNA RULING WITH HER NEW SONG TITLED 'BOBO'

The artiste has being in full force for the past few weeks due to her increased career path  and ever increasing fan base. Why the Play ‘The Struggle’?

The Struggle is a play that portrays the travails and woes of the Niger Delta people as they struggle to overcome the negative implications the discovery of oil has had on the land. It is a play about the common people, and the efforts that have been put into rising above the difficulties. This struggle isn’t over, and it is important to both keep encouraging the people of the progress we have made, and to show others just how dire the sufferings of the common man are.

FIIDI CELEBRATES INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE

Peaceful coexistence was a theory developed and applied by the Soviet Union at various points during the Cold War in the context of its ostensibly Marxist–Leninist foreign policy and was adopted by Soviet-influenced "Socialist states" that they could peacefully coexist with the capitalist bloc.


In response to the declaration by the United Nations General Assembly for  observation of  August 22nd every year beginning from 2019 as the International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion or Belief.The Foundation for Intercultural and Interreligious Dialogue Initiatives (FIIDI) organized a Community Outreach in Port Harcourt (Nigeria) on Thursday 22 August 2019.  The one day event had well outlined  programmes which   began earlier  with presention of  Awards by the Country  Coordinator MR. D' tigers, Nigeria's men’s basketball team became the first team sport to secure a ticket to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games after defeating China 86-73 points in the last classification game of the 2019 FIBA Men World Cup.
The resilient team took the initiative in the second quarter from China who won the first quarter, 21-19 points as they asserted their authority to end the first half, 35-31 points.

Playing against China who were also desperate for an automatic ticket from Asia, the players came to the party to clinch the 3rd and 4th quarters, 25-20, 26-22 on the day that 4 players recorded double figures.
Josh Okogie who shot 16 points, 3 assists and 5 rebounds to help his team to a win was unanimously voted as the man of the match while Nnamdi Vincent scored 14 points, 2 assists and 1 rebound.

Ekpe Udoh and Chimezie Metu scored 13 and 11 points respectively as the D’Tigers recorded the highest number of wins (3) in a single World Cup.

NIGERIA RELAY TEAM SET FOR IAAF

Nigeria’s women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relay teams are set to qualify for the 17th edition of the IAAF World Athletics Championship holding from the 27th September to 6th October, 2019, in Doha, Qatar. With the the qualifying period for the relays spanning from 7th March, 2018, to 6th September, 2019, both teams currently occupy the 16th and 11th positions respectively on the IAAF toplist. The Top 10 from the 2019 IAAF World Relays back in May, and Top 6 from the current standings will make it to the global championships. The women’s 4x400m team’s path to the Championships looks the most straightforward after the quartet of Patience Okon-George, Glory Nathaniel, Praise Idamadudu and Yinka Ajayi clocked 3:25.29 on their way to winning Silver at the Commonwealth Games on the 14th of April, 2018. Jane ottah, a final year student of Rivers state university studying Education foundation has been at the forefront of the call for the rights the deaf in Nigeria. She said, people with disabilities need the protection of  a disability rights law because of discrimination faced in school and at the workplace, often based in a fear that disability is contagious.

Jane lost her hearing at the age of 6 and  she developed a passion for reading and writing because she felt, “…as a Deaf person, these were the best options I now had to cope effectively with the world having lost touch with the hearing world.”
As she adjusted to her deafness, Jane became upset at the way the able-bodied population viewed disability, treating it as a matter of charity rather than a human rights issue.  Her plans after graduation includes teaching, acting and advocating  for the Deaf. S…

NIGERIA BAGS FIRST GOLD AT 2019 ALL AFRICAN GAMES

Nigeria has finally bagged its first gold  medal at the 2019 African Games holding  at the Stade Mohammed V Sports Complex in Rabat on Wednesday, August 21st, the gold medal was won by Ruth Chinazum Nwosu, who demonstrated mental and physical toughness to strike GOLD in the women’s 49-53kg category in the Taekwondo event, beating Morocco’s Oumaima El Bouchti 26-22 to dominate the event. Nwosu maintained an unbeaten streak on Day 1 of Taekwondo, defeating Mossi Halidou Balkissa of Niger 23-9 in the quarterfinal, having received a bye in the earlier round. She fought hard to maintain her lead and even though the Moroccan levelled up 8-8, the Nigerian went on to amass more points as she refused to relinquish her territory, dominating the fight 20-8.
At that point, El Bouchti’s morale was rekindled by the support of the home fans who cheered her on, and with her kicks aimed perfectly at her opponent, she secured much-needed points, taking the tally to 26-20. However, time worked in Nwosu…
