I Am Not Ready For Marriage Now—Halima Abubakar

Marriage in Africa, especially in Nigeria, is one institution that is regarded as something one must go into and it is a sign of responsibility. It is common for parents to start getting worried when their children of marriageable age are still single.

Parents however, put little pressure on men until they reach the age of 40, but that is not the case with women, who are put under intense pressure if they are still single at 30. At that stage, their mothers would go about seeking spiritual help for their daughters so that she could settle down in time.

Despite this, it is surprising that most Nigerian female celebrities don’t get married in time. In some instances, they cross age 30 before settling down with men they could call their own. The reason is not far-fetched; most men are scared of approaching these women because of their celebrity status. While some men get intimidated by their status, others cannot just stand the numerous negative stories, especially sex scand…

Keshi: Eagles must focus

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi says his wards will have to come down from the high of their stirring victory over Morocco and knuckle down if they are to beat Ghana. The two West African giants clash on Wednesday in the semi-final of the African Nations Championship, and Keshi says his players have to get their hands dirty.
"The victory over Morocco is gone, now it's like we are starting again from scratch and the players have to focus on Ghana," he said.
"The Ghanaians are a very good team. They may not have scored as many goals before this stage, but they will be dangerous, and we cannot allow what happened against Morocco to happen again."
The Nigeria coach remains confident that despite a slew of injuries, he had enough in his amours to triumph.
"We have a few injuries, but that is why we have 23 players here and I trust all of them to come in and do their job," he adds.

You seem to participate more in soap operas than in regular movie. Why is that?

I wouldn’t say I participate more in sitcom than movie. I do more movie than soap operas. There is no particular reason why but I just find out that I appear more in flicks. I don’t think I have participated in more than five soap operas. Movie, to me are more profitable but fame-wise, soap operas are better than movie. The pay is usually low in soap operas except in those that have international status and are shown only on pay TV.

As an actress, are you impressed with the present state of Nollywood?

I am not impressed because we are supposed to be moving forward but it seems everything is getting worse by the day. However, all hope is not lost because there is nothing that does not have its ups and downs. I am not …

Hi ladies :

Many times as women, we tend to feel incomplete without a man by our side and would go to great lengths to ensure we don’t remain “single”. I know that feeling.

But it’s also important we do not express our vulnerability or sound too desperate that we forget to build ourselves up as individuals. Sometimes, we give up our lives, our careers, our dreams for the desires of a man and leave our own self worth and fulfillment aside.

Plus, it was such a huge surprise, I had no clue. I hate surprises but I must say, this one knocked me out of my elements because I usually suspect something is happening. Hehehehe! I am not fully over it yet.
