The Rivers State Government has reaffirmed its confidence in divine guidance, declaring that it draws strength from the assurance that God is sufficient to lead the state’s affairs and sustain its people in peace and progress.
Governor of Rivers State, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, made the declaration at the 2026 Holy Ghost Rally organised by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Port Harcourt, on Sunday.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Prof. Ngozi Nma Odu, said the government remains confident that with God on its side, the challenges facing the state are surmountable and the future remains hopeful.
He described the theme of the rally, “The All-Sufficient God,” as timely and reassuring, noting that it serves as a reminder that in the midst of global and national uncertainties, God remains the unfailing source of wisdom, strength, provision and grace.
Governor Fubara stressed that while human capacity has its limits, God’s sufficiency prevails, assuring that divine intervention becomes evident when human effort reaches its end.
He commended the Redeemed Christian Church of God for its consistent prayers and spiritual support for Rivers State and the nation, praising the church’s role in promoting moral values, unity and faith in God.
In his sermon, the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, speaking from Genesis 17:1, described God as all-sufficient and capable of meeting every human need.
Pastor Adeboye said the God who created all things also has the power to repair and restore them, noting that there are situations where human solutions, including medical interventions, reach their limits and only divine intervention can bring a turnaround.
Also speaking, the Pastor in charge of the Rivers Family of the RCCG, Pastor Adesoji Oni, said the Port Harcourt Holy Ghost Rally, which began in 2015, has grown into an annual event that continues to bless the state.
He noted that the rally has drawn thousands of souls to God while making significant spiritual and physical impact on lives.
Pastor Oni added that the church has gone beyond preaching the Gospel to implement impactful Christian Social Responsibility programmes, including skills acquisition centres, maternity centres across the state, a rehabilitation centre for persons battling substance abuse, and an Innovative Mind Hub.
The event attracted thousands of worshippers from across Rivers State and beyond, reaffirming the church’s commitment to spiritual growth and social development.
