The Nigerian Supreme Court appears to be weak and seems to be scared of the President that is why they decided to be quiet on the emergency rule issue.
It took the NBA President Mazi Afam Osigwe to remind them of their responsibilities during the last legal year valedictory session, that is why they had to fix a date to hear and allow counsels adopt their briefs on the emergency rule matter before them.
It took the judiciary one year to hear matters bothering on Rivers crisis (Speakership, LGA Election, Allocation, etc) from the Federal High Court to the Court of Appeal then to the Supreme Court. But it has taken the Supreme Court over six months to hear a matter of NATIONAL IMPORTANCE like the emergency rule. This is the judiciary we are all in.
My people, the Nigerian judiciary is alleged to have been bought with a price. The judiciary is seen from different quarters and opinions to act like puppets of Mr. President and the executive. Little wonder, a few years ago, Justice Musa Dattijo Muhammad JSC (Rtd) in his retirement valedictory speech, talked about how corrupt the Court has become (You can search for the speech on YouTube).
When the FCT Minister is building houses for judges and heads of Courts, what do you expect? The judiciary is sinking, yet we pretend about it. There is a need for deep cleaning of the Nigerian judiciary. I know why I am shouting about this.
Anytime you delay justice, you have denied justice to the people like the Supreme Court have done in this matter. Gone are the days when we use to have real patriots and statesmen at the helm of affairs.
I won't be surprise if they come after me because that is what they do to people who tell them the truth, they hate truth, but I will not fail to tell them.
Our judiciary is gone and that is the last hit of the OPPRESSOR before we enter into a full blown dictatorship.
In All, To God Be The Glory.
