Rivers State Government Begins Reconstruction Of Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt

The Rivers State Government under His Excellency, Gov. Siminalayi Fubara has begun a total reconstruction of the Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Elekahia. The project, handled by Monimichelle Monimichelle Sports Facility Construction Ltd, a renowned indigenous company led by sports infrastructure expert Ebi Egbe , widely respected for delivering top-quality stadiums across Nigeria and Africa. The scope of work covers every component of the facility, including the playing turf, drainage systems, seating areas, floodlights, and dressing rooms. The project is expected to be completed within eight months, ushering in a modern, safe, and spectator-friendly stadium. This move reaffirms the Fubara-led administration’s commitment to sports development, youth engagement, and infrastructure renewal in Rivers State.
