Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central Senatorial District, has empowered 250 individuals and institutions with drones, laptops, and technical tools as part of her ongoing drive to promote technology and skills development in her constituency and beyond.
As part of the program, 80 drones were freely distributed after participants received training on how to use them. The drones, which comply with NCAA regulations, can be used in sectors like construction, agriculture, oil and gas, delivery, environmental monitoring, and telecoms.
“Drone technology is the future of development, and we are proud to position Nigeria as a leader in this space,” Senator Natasha said.
To promote education, her office also invited students and lecturers from different tertiary institutions in Nigeria, especially departments of Geology and Environmental Science. Each participating institution received a drone to support learning and research.
Aside from drones, the empowerment program included 70 HP laptops for data analysis, 50 engineering toolkits, and 50 welding machines with safety gear.
Although the program focused on Kogi Central, beneficiaries also came from states like Zamfara, Ondo, Oyo, Delta, Borno, Cross River, Edo, Abia, Imo, and Akwa Ibom.
Senator Natasha said the goal is to build a skilled and tech-driven society. “Only the best is good enough for Kogi Central,” she added.
