The Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers has pledged to finance the upcoming Local Government elections on August 9, 2025, if federal allocation delays hinder state funding.
Speaking at the Rivers STATE Independent Electoral Commission stakeholders’ meeting in Port Harcourt, the Council’s Chairman, HRM Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, represented by HRH Barr. (Surv.) Tubotamuno Asifamabia Dick-Jaw III (OPOLOBIA IV), praised RSIEC’s preparations. He assured that traditional rulers across the state are ready to mobilize resources to prevent any disruption to the electoral process.
The meeting, attended by party leaders, civil society groups, and RSIEC officials, also saw RSIEC Chairman, Hon. Justice Adolphus Enebeli (Rtd), reaffirm the commission’s commitment to delivering free, fair, and credible polls.
