Ogun State Governor Visits Seyi Makinde of Oyo State

Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, visited Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to condole with him and the people of Oyo State over the Ibadan stampede that occurred on December 18th, resulting in the loss of 35 lives. The stampede happened during a palliative distribution event organized by an NGO. Governor Abiodun emphasized the importance of collaboration between NGOs, charitable organizations, and the government in distributing palliatives to prevent chaotic situations and loss of lives. He noted that such incidents have also occurred in Anambra and Abuja during the yuletide period. Abiodun suggested that involving the government in palliative distribution would ensure better planning and implementation, thereby preventing mishaps. He also expressed the Southern Governors' Forum's pain over the loss and wished the people of Oyo State a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. In response, Governor Makinde appreciated the visit and saw it as an opportunity for the two states to cross-fertilize ideas and learn from each other. The two governors plan to meet next year for a Peer Review to identify areas of collaboration and knowledge sharing.
