Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, the Elulu of Mopa, has made a special public plea to Pa Taiye Famodile, Chief Micheal Ajayi, the Concerned Mopa Senior Citizens and other interested parties to the ongoing tussle of the Elulu Stool.
The plea was contained in a open letter titled; ‘Special Plea To Pa Taiye Famodile, Chief Micheal Ajayi, CMSC and Others’, and ssigned by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Oba Muyiwa Ibeun, Hon. Julius O. Abel-Ontop.
In the letter, the Elulu recognizes their impact in the development of Mopa and also urge them not to relent in their effort to work with other Mopa sons and daughters for the development of Mopa, even as they responsibly express their interest concerning the Elulu stool.
The Elulu respects the opinion and interests of all persons, urging them not to be abusive in their expression because the proper thing to be done is in the process, which expressing displeasure in court. He added that in the end, the judgement of the court will prevail, and Mopa will remain.
The letter in full;
“This is a public and special plea to Pa Taiye Famodile, Chief Micheal Ajayi, all who are part of the Concerned Mopa Senior Citizens, and other individual(s) and/or family(ies) who are parties of interest to the Elulu stool, and/or to who becomes the Elulu or not.
“It should be recalled that the Mopa Traditional Council (MTC), having performed their responsibilities and duties, following the traditional, legal, and constitutional procedures, had His Royal Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Muyiwa Ibeun installed and coronated as the Elulu of Mopa on 17th of May, 2024, following his appointment by the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Usman Ahmed Ododo on the 15th of May, 2024.
“Even though it would be generally agreed that having interest in the Elulu stool and/or who becomes the Elulu is unlimited to individuals, family(ies), organisation(s), and/or group of person(s), etc, due to the influence Mopa as a community has wielded not only in Kogi State and Nigeria, but the world at large.
“Hence, Mopa is more than any individual, family(ies), group of persons, and/or organisation(s).
“Looking at the amazing goodwill and positive public image, cum developmental efforts that the fathers and mothers of Mopa have earned for her over time, it becomes imperative that for whatever reason, we all are bound to protect the image of Mopa.
“We have been deliberately silent over this for a while, but at this time, it has become important to come with this public plea to plead with all interested in the Elulu Stool not to barter the image of Mopa in the name of the struggle on who the Elulu is. Because in the end, Mopa will remain.
“Due to the association and influence of Oba Muyiwa Ibeun with other prominent Royalties like Ooni of Ife, Obaro of Kabba, Agbana of Isanlu, Olujumu of Ijumu, Ehtu of Ajaokuta, Elejuku of Ejuku, etc … we are informed of the effort of some individuals and groups of persons, writing to these stools, maligning the image of Mopa, all in the name of contesting the Elulu Stool.
“Recently, a letter was also written to Maigari of Lokoja to continually denigrate the image of Mopa.
“We respect everyone’s opinion on the Eluluship, we also believe that you are expressing your concern on the subject matter due to your love for the development and progress of Mopa, we therefore call your attention not to be undoing Mopa in the expression of your respective interests.
“We plead with all parties to express their interest responsibly and indeed, for the interest of Mopa.
“The most appropriate place to contest the Eluluship is the court, and there is an ongoing suit there. Since this is on, we plead with all to shield their swords against bartering the image of Mopa. Becuase in the end, we will all agree to and with the decision of the court.
“We recognise Pa Taiye Famodile, Chief Micheal Ajayi, and other persons involved with CMSC as resourceful and influential persons. Therefore, we call on them not to stop bringing their reasources for the development of Mopa. In order words, we call on them to join resources with us to develop Mopa.
“We also call on the generallity of Mopa people to respect one another for the opinion they wish to represent on this Eluluship and to avoid any form of disrespect, abuse, and/or insult against one another, as this would be a disservice and discredit to Mopa which cannot be encouraged.
“Wishing Mopa all and sundry Merry Christmas and Happy New Year in advance, we also seize this opportunity to encourage all, especially CMSC, to be in Mopa Adegbederin Day come 28th of December, 2024.
“God bless Mopa. Amen.
