An electable person ought to have a mirror

Respected and inimitable late Chief Sunday Bolorunduro (SB) Awoniyi, then Aro of Mopa, in one of his tutorials on the conduct of electable persons, which he shared with me before he was called over to the heavenly places, said an electable person ought to have a mirror
. "Do you know what I mean by a mirror?" he queried. I answered in the negative and he continued; "The mirror is that person who can tap the electable at the moment of crisis and speak the truth to him, and he would oblige. "If the electable has no such a person, even if such a person gets elected, he is bound for failure." I do not know if President Tinubu has a mirror that can tap him, speak the truth to him, and get him to oblige. If he does, the mirror should do this country some good by telling Mr President that his dual policy of absolute withdrawal of subsidy and floating of the Naira is leading Nigerians to unmitigated hunger and early deaths. As if following the sordid advice of Senator Godswill Akpabio to eat wherever they can find food, Nigerians are dying in their tens in the search for food. From Oyo to Anambra and now FCT, children and adults are returning home in body bags instead of bags of rice or feeding money. President Tinubu needs to do more than calling off his appointments in respect for those whose lives were lost. He should review his harsh policies and give them a human face. That way, the numbers of body bags will be reduced. May the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen. By Kola Ologbondiyan
