Okonjo Iweala emerges first African and female Director General of the World Trade Organization

 

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala,  Nigeria’s former Finance Minister  has emerged the new Director General of the World Trade Organisation.

According to sources she emerged victorious in the contest over her South Korean rival, Ms Yoo Myung-hee, by a wide margin. She polled 104 out of 164 to beat her South Korean rival. Congratulations  !!!

Okonjo-Iweala’s victory is expected to be announced formally by the WTO later today.
