Chelsea defender Olaoluwa Aina has charged the Super Eagles of Nigeria to make the nation proud in Russia.
Ola Aina who could play as a right back and left back was dropped from the Eagles 23- man squad to Russia as the likes of Shehu Abdullahi , Tyronne Ebuhi , Elderson Eciejile and Bryan Idowu were favoured in the full- back positions by coach Gernot Rohr
Aina who had played for England U- 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20, recently pledged his allegiance to Nigeria after meeting with the Nigeria Football Federation president , Amaju Pinnick, has been a regular in the national team since then.
He was a second - half substitute in Super Eagles must- win World Cup qualifier game against Chipolopolo of Zambia in Uyo and he played the last qualifier against Algeria .
Despite playing a part in Nigeria’ s road to Russia, he accepted the decision of being dropped in good faith while wishing the boys all the best at the Mundial .
“ Maybe next time ,” Aina wrote on his Facebook page.
“ I want to wish the boys all the very best out in Russia .
“ Make our nation proud. ”
The 21-year - old defender had played five games for Super Eagles of Nigeria since he switched his allegiance to the three- time African champions.
