KANU,Amokachi,Diouf and others play for IDP in Kano




Former African football stars including Nwankwo Kanu; former Senegal and Liverpool forward, El Hadji Diouf; former South African Captain, Aaron Mokoena, and former Zimbabwe star, Benjani Mwaruwari were all in action on Thursday as some African football legends played NPFL side, Kano Pillars FC in a charity game at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.



The match ended 2-1 in favor of Kano Pillars, Akide Ibrahim scored both goals for Pillars and former South Africa Captain Mokoena scored the only goal for the African Legends.
Daniel Amokachi, Garba Lawal, and Tijani Babangida played on the side of the legends with Super Eagles Brown Ideye also making an appearance.
Speaking shortly after the game, Kanu expressed his happiness being part of the game. He described the initiative aimed at bringing succor to persons made homeless as a result of the terrorist activities in North East as a laudable one.
“It’s an opportunity for us (ex-internationals) to show support for the internally displaced persons and we are glad to be here in Kano today.
“The organizers have done a good job in arranging this game and bringing all these former African stars here. I want to say a big kudos to them,” concludes the former African player of the year who also has a foundation for taking care of children and persons suffering from heart disease
