Since the revolution in the music industry, talent hunt shows have been on the increase. The latest addition to the reality show is the recently concluded Glo X -Factor.

The real essence of music talent hunts should be, producing stars who prove their mettle in the music industry, not just being crowned winners of the competitions.

Mtn project fame seem to be the only talent competition that has produced winners and participants who have proved with their relevance in the music industry that they deserved participating or winning the coveted prize. Iyanya, Chidinma and Praiz are the trio of Mtn project fame participants proving their mettle in the music industry.

What happened to Nigerian Idol winners? Why has nothing been heard of any of the participants nor winners in terms of relevance in the music scene? Timi Dakolo, Omawunmi and J'odie who were participants in the first edition of Idols which was actually West Africa Idol, seem to be the only artistes produced from this competition maintaining their relevance in the industry.

Are we going to see Dj Switch, the winner of the Glo X-Factor who has got great talent, attitude, swagger and lots of energy on stage, churn out hits to maintain her relevance? Or is she going to be one of those flash in the pans? Only time will tell
