Yoruba Movie Academy Awards Calls For Entries

The organizers of the Yoruba Movie Academy Awards (YMAA), have called for entries for its second edition. The maiden edition held in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital in June 2012, was adjudged the best so far in the Yoruba movie industry.

Already, movie practitioners in the Yoruba film industry, who wish to enter for the 2013 edition of the awards have the opportunity to submit their films from April 8 to the 21st of April, 2013. Films to be submitted would have been released from January 2012 to December 2012 to qualify for the awards.

Many have termed YMAA as the Oscar of the Yoruba movie industry. The 2012 edition was held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta on Sunday, June 3, 2012. It was well attended by top Ogun State political big-wigs.

The governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, was then represented by his wife, Funsho. Top players in the Yoruba movie world were at the event. Jide Kosoko, Tunde Kelani, Hafiz Oyetoro, Lere Paimo, Odunlade Adekola, Femi Adebayo, Afonja Olaniyan amongst others.
