Omotola Rebrands EFCC to ‘Economic and Fishing Crime Commission

Click for Full Image Size Nollywood actress, Omotola Jalade has decided to put pleasure aside for real talk about the mal-administration of the Nigerian political sector.

In every country, there are bodies established to oversee the activities of its citizens in order to ensure sanity in the society. If we look at the Western countries, when a political office holder is being accused of anything, he/she resigns from that position until the issue is being resolved.

This time, the actress is angry with the officials of the Economic and Finanacial crimes Commission (EFCC) for neglecting their duties in investigating both current and ex-politicians who have been accused one way or the other.

The EFCC recently on September 24th arraigned six fishermen Adekunle Oshingbosi; Momodu Ibrahim; Idowu Tuesday; Togbosi Christian; Benjamin Eyinle; Anthony Medoho, and their company, Oshine Resources Ventures Limited before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos for allegedly fishing in unauthorized waters.

When the 2 count charge of conspiracy and stealing was read to the men, they pleaded not guilty and applied for bail through their counsel.

The presiding Judge, Justice Ibrahim Buba granted them bail in the sum of N10 million each with one surety in like sum each, who is to produce two recent passport photographs. They were remanded at the Ikoyi prisons pending when they meet their bail conditions.

Omotola who is not happy with this development called on the EFCC to remind them about their duties and go after political office holders who have embezzled the country’s money without being probe while poor keep suffering.

The actress, responding to her fan’s message, described the EFCC now as ‘Economic and Fishing Crime Commission’ calling on them to investigate $9.3m from south Africa, and stop disturbing fishermen.
